CE markings for

glass in building

CE mark is obligatory for all construction products placed on market in EU countries.

Comité Européen de Normalisation ( CEN ) has published standards ( hEN, harmonized European Standards ) for tempered glass and heat strengthened glass, that specify, in any EU country,

• the requirements of performance characteristics
• test methods and declaration of results

Glass products intended to be used in building must carry a CE mark, which means that the marked product complies with European technical specifications and has been subject to appropriate conformity assessment procedures.

The manufacturer is responsible for organizing the evaluation of conformity that is based on

• Determination of the performance of the product type, Initial type test ( ITT )
• Factory production control ( FPC ), permanent internal control of production exercised by the manufacturer to assure that all produced products conform to ITT
