Classifying flat glass products used in buildings, by performance under impact and by mode of breakage. The classification by drop height corresponds to graded values of energy transmitted by the impact of a person.
The classification system relates to increasing personal safety by:
- the reduction of cutting and piercing injuries to persons;
- the containment characteristics of the material.
EN 12600:2002 and ISO 29584
The glass sample of size 867+/-2 x 1938+/-2mm is placed on the frame and clamped.
The impactor is raised to the desired height and released. If the glass breaks it fails the test.
It consists of
- Twin tyre impactor only.
- Upgrade for automatic catching of the impactor, so that only one operator is needed to do the test.
