PS-100 Accessories

Boom stand:

The optional boom stand accessory is highly recommended when observing small parts under high magnification, especially when there is a high stress gradient present. The heavy-duty, base provides a vibration-free image and adjusts to suit camera position and height.

Compensators:

Model DWC-100 is a double-wedge (Babinet Soleil) compensator with a dial readout that features a uniform field of retardation that makes it ideal for applications with high stress gradients. Requires Accessory Shoe. Standard range is 2500 nm; with optional range extender: 5000 nm. Sensitivity: 5 nm

Compensator SWF-100: The swing-out monochromatic filter is designed to improve visualization of photoelastic fringe orders in both low-stress and high-stress-gradient samples by eliminating color (fractional fringe orders). Each full fringe order of retardation (565 nm in glass; 570 nm in plastics) will then appear black, making qualitative measurement (fringe counting) and quantitative measurement (analyzer rotation) easier.

Immersion cell

is constructed with leak-proof anodized aluminium walls and a stress-free glass bottom for holding samples immersed in a refractive index matching fluid in order to optically compensate for chips and non-flat areas in a sample (For soda-lime float glass, RI = 1.52). The standard I-Cell measures 8 in L x 4 in W x 2 in H (200 mm Lx 100 mm W x 50 mm H), but custom sizes are available.

Refractive index fluid is available in bottles of different sizes. Borosilicate and other refractive indices are available on special order.
