Measuring humidity at the roll, during lamination and after lamination. The PVB Humidity meter measures the water contained in the PVB before and after lamination.
If needed, the layer thickness can also be measured.
PVB humidity measurement is important to prevent delamination. Indeed, adhesion works best with humidities between 0.4 and 0.65%. If the water content exceeds this range, e.g., due to humidity entering the system from outside, the adhesion is reduced and the PVB layer can detach from the glass (delamination). In order to prevent this from happening, the water content needs to
be closely monitored during the production, storage, transportation, and lamination of the glass.
It is composed of a light source with a wavelength range of 400 – 4700nm and a reflective mirror.
To measure humidity, the sample is placed between the light source and the reflective mirror. A wave length of 1450nm to 1940nm is used:
Measurement range: 0–1% humidity / 0–1 / 0–2 mm thickness
Accuracy: +/- 0.01 %; Reproducibility: 0.005 %,
